Yiyao Zhang

Yiyao Zhang Principal Investigator
I was a postdoctoral researcher at NYU Langone Health Neuroscience Institute in the Buzsaki Lab, where I was from July 2018 - December 2025. My research focuses on understanding how neuromodulators, particularly acetylcholine and oxytocin, regulate neural network dynamics and memory function in the hippocampus under both normal and pathological conditions.
I earned my Ph.D. from East China Normal University (ECNU) in Shanghai, China, where I studied in the Key Laboratory of Brain Functional Genomics from 2012 to 2018. My doctoral thesis investigated septo-hippocampal cholinergic projection and its role in regulating hippocampal neural activity. Prior to that, I completed my B.Sc. in the School of Life Sciences at ECNU from 2008 to 2012.
